In case of Attestation, you are generally asked to get all your Indian origin issued documents attested by Chinese Embassy in India for all your documents which are supposed to be used in China. Both Embassy of China in Delhi and different consulates of China in India can perform this type of attestation but you have to check for your respective consulate or Embassy based on the state you live in.

For Example: If an applicant belong to Nagpur city of Maharashtra state, than he or she should apply for attestation at Consulate General of China in Mumbai because for candidates belonging to the state of Maharashtra and Karnataka point of contact for attestation services is Consulate General of China in Mumbai. Same way for candidates belonging to Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, point of contact for attestation is Consulate general of China in Kolkata. Candidates belonging to any other states of India other than mentioned above, shall contact China Embassy in Delhi for any help related to attestation or legalization of their documents.

Though the entire process mostly remains same but difference comes in type of attestation you should get before approaching Embassy for legalization of your documents. If your document comes under category of Civil or Legal document than you should first get your document notarized by a Notary public and then obtain an attestation from MEA (Ministry of External Affair of India) which is located in New Delhi. But if your documents are of commercial nature than you might have to get these notarized and attested by respective Chamber of commerce and than by MEA (Ministry of External Affair of India) before submitting these for attestation at China Embassy in India.

Once documents are attested by MEA than there are few simple steps to get your documents attested by China Embassy or its Consulates:

(1)    Duly fill an application form for Attestation. You can get this form from either directly from Embassy of China or your respective Consulate General office.

(2)    Make photocopy of your documents both front and back, as you need to submit the photocopy of your document along with original document. If your document consist of 2 or more pages than make sure to get it notarized by a Notary public by putting his/her stamp and signature on this.

(3)    A covering letter shall be signed by the company of the applicant and this covering letter should mention the purpose of attestation.

(4)    If document is of civil use than a covering letter shall be signed by the candidate mentioning the purpose of attestation.

(5)    Photocopy of candidate’s passport shall also be accompanies with above documents.

Note: Mentioned above documents are mainly required but supplementary documents can be asked by Embassy.

Fees for attestation of Civil documents:
Embassy charge Rs. 1600 per document for attestation of civil documents by normal process which takes normally 4 days time and you can also get document attested next day by paying and express service fee of Rs. 1800 and for super urgent process you can also get your documents attested same day by paying an additional fee of Rs. 2700.

Fees for attestation of Commercial documents:

Embassy charge Rs. 3200 per document for attestation of civil documents by normal process which takes normally 4 days time and you can also get document attested next day by paying and urgent service fee of Rs. 1800 and for super urgent process you can also get your documents attested same day by paying an additional fee of Rs. 2700.
